The upcoming Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe has been captured through the lenses of our European spy photographers for a while now, so it's time for the spotlight to be shone on its meaner, more potent twin from Affalterbach, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe. The new-generation Teutonic two-door hot rod looks pumped up and ready to take on its sworn Munich rival, the BMW M4, square in the face.
The swoopy, elegant shape of the C-Class Coupe has been injected with a massive dose of steroids for this application. Modern AMG cues like the dual-bar grille, characteristic "A-wing" in the front bumper, wider arches, deeper side skirts and sizeable quad tailpipes all visible here, even under the heavy camouflage.
As with the sedan and estate variants, the C 63 Coupe will be powered by AMG's new 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 476 PS from 5,500 to 6,250 rpm and 650 Nm from 1,750 to 4,500 rpm, mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT seven-speed automatic transmission. Those with a penchant for extra power will want the more hardcore C 63 S that bumps output to 510 PS and 700 Nm.
