Remember the long, low and wide Audi Prologue concept coupe from the 2014 Los Angeles show? Well, now Audi has shown the projectile-like Avant version ahead of the 2015 Geneva show next month.
It seems the large luxury coupe is back in vogue - Mercedes already has the gorgeous S-Class Coupe, and both Audi and BMW are eyeing a slice of the pie too, the latter demonstrated by its Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe concept. But while the Prologue coupe seemed to be the crystal ball towards an S-Class Coupe rival, this Audi Prologue Avant concept appears to foreshadow a competitor to the CLS-Class Shooting Brake.
As on the Prologue coupe, many of the styling cues you see here will find their way to future Audis, starting with the A6, A7 and A8. A super-wide front grille is flanked by slim Matrix LED headlamps and aggressively-styled intakes (even more garang than the coupe's!).
Adding to that dynamic silhouette are massive five-spoke alloys, a low roofline and a shoulder line that's pretty nearly flat. The long rear overhang is set off by subtle spoilers on the roof and rear window line, while bridged LED tail lamps and huge tailpipe outlets round up the rear.
Audi has seen fit to tease the interior, too - pretty much the same as the Prologue coupe's, with that strong, minimalist T-shaped layout flattering the car's width. OLED touch-screens dominate, with the Audi virtual cockpit facing the driver.
The Prologue concept coupe had a 4.0 litre TFSI twin-turbo V8 producing 605 hp and 700 Nm (750 Nm on overboost), an eight-speed Tiptronic auto, quattro all-wheel drive with torque vectoring and a 48-volt electrical system, amongst others - we're expecting this Avant version to have the same. We eagerly await its Geneva reveal!
