Stuttgart's rather late answer to Munich's X4 has been teased via a design sketch - it'll be called the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, because it's a 'coupe' version of an SUV based on the incumbent W205 C-Class. Not bad-looking, eh? And that's a seriously sloping roofline.
Funnily enough, the GLE Coupe was unveiled before the GLE, so you'd think the GLC Coupe would debut before the GLC. But what's going to Auto Shanghai later this month is a "near-production-standard study" which, according to Autocar UK, precedes the real thing either in 2016 or 2017. And our Euro spies have only spotted the non-coupe GLC so far, so the reverse could equally happen.
Because the new GLC will reportedly come in right-hand drive (the GLK was a lefty only), it's safe to assume the same for the GLC Coupe. Likewise the engines - speculated is a base GLC 250 with a new 1.8 litre four-cylinder turbo engine, a GLC 250 BlueTEC with the familiar 2.1 litre four-cylinder turbodiesel and a V6-powered GLC 350.
We've seen something before that could be a GLC 350 e plug-in hybrid, and our carparazzi expects AMG versions in the future, too.
