The crossover segment is booming around the world, with one in five vehicles sold in 2014 being a crossover. After its B-segment Captur proved to be a sales success with it being the top selling model in its segment in Europe last year, Renault is ready to tackle the C-segment crossover market with a fresh new model - the Renault Kadjar.
Built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance's CMF-CD platform shared with the Nissan Qashqai, the new Renault Kadjar measures 4,450 mm long, 1,840 mm wide and 1,600 mm tall. Renault says it is slotted in between the Captur and the Koleos, which indicates the latter will continue as a nameplate but perhaps grow larger now that the Kadjar sits in the middle.
Both two wheel drive and all wheel drive versions are available. The all wheel drive model features three modes - Auto, LOCK and 2WD. While the Kadjar is expected to spend most of its time in the city, for those who might want to do a bit of offroading, these numbers will be useful for you - the Kadjar has an approach and departure angle of 18 and 25 degrees respectively, with a ground clearance of 190 mm.
No engine options have been shared for now, but we might get more details when the Kadjar is unveiled to the public at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March. It will be built at Renault's plant in Palencia, Spain as well as a JV site in Wuhan, China.
