Fledgling carmaker Qoros has been developing a crossover for a while now, with mules having been spied since last September. The new model will now debut at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show later this month in concept form as the Qoros 2 – a teaser sketch has been released, showing the car's side profile.
the 2 will be a standalone SUV model – unlike the 3 City SUV, which is a more rugged version of the regular 3 Hatch – and, despite the name, will be based on a stretched version of the 3's modular platform. Clear from the rendering are the bulging wheel arches hiding large multi-spoke wheels, a distinct C-pillar kink (did someone say Kia Sportage?) and boomerang-shaped tail lights.
No specifics were mentioned, but the 2 is reportedly powered by turbocharged 1.6 litre (the same 156 hp/210 Nm mill currently used in the 3) and 1.8 litre four-cylinder engines, the latter likely producing around 185 hp.
