Complaining about a car having way too much horsepower is akin to whining about running out of ideas on how to spend one's money, it seems. The folks at Shelby American appear to understand said mentality pretty well with the introduction of the Baja 700 - a steroid-infused variant of the 2014 Ford SVT Raptor.

On the outside, things aren't that different with the addition of a front skid plate being the most obvious add-on. Elsewhere, Shelby badges and graphics as well as racing stripes are featured while the 18-inch wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich K02 tyres. Prospective clients can spec on optional Shelby-badged Rogue Racing front and rear bumpers along with LED lights and electronically-operated AMP side steps.

Under the skin, things get a little bit more insane as the base truck's 6.2 litre V8 engine gets kitted with new fuel injectors, larger throttle bodies, a Borla exhaust kit and a 2.9 litre Whipple supercharger. Total power output gets lifted from 411 hp to a ridiculous 700+ hp as a result of said modifications.

A "competition-spec" suspension setup comprised of 3-inch King coilovers with bypass rear shocks and Rogue Racing upper and lower control arms is featured. Inside, Shelby American has kept things simple with a Katzkin leather interior, commemorative floor mats, a numbered plaque and a three-gauge dash pod.

Prices for the Shelby American Baja 700 begin at US$45,000 (RM165,366) excluding the cost of the donor car. The Baja 700 treatment is only available in a limited run of 50 units.
