The 2016 Chevrolet Equinox has been revealed at the 2015 Chicago motor show and is set to hit the North American market by the third quarter of this year. On this update, Chevrolet has decided to keep things simple - the exterior receives a makeover while the interior and engine specs remain unchanged.
Also new on this facelift are the introduction of several trim lines - the L, LS, LT and LTZ trim - which eliminates the 1LT and 2LT trims. A reworked front grille featuring a "chrome-accented dual-port" design is presented along with projector head lamps are included.
In profile, new 17-inch wheels are presented on the LS variant while the flagship LTZ variant gets new 18-inch wheels. Out back, a revamped bumper (with chrome accents on the LTZ) and the trademark dual-element tail lamps along with chrome exhaust tips on the V6 models round off the aesthetic changes.
Changes on the interior include the addition of a seven-inch-diagonal Color Touch infotainment across all variants and supposedly "enhanced interior fabrics". The centre console also receives a redesign with a new storage shelf while the instrument clusters gain new graphics.
Under the hood, the mid-size crossover soldiers on with the same 2.4 litre Ecotec four-cylinder engine and a 3.6 litre V6 mill - power outputs are 182 hp/233 Nm and 301 hp/368 Nm, respectively. Both engines are mated to a sole choice of a six-speed automatic gearbox. Four-wheel drive is offered as an option while front-wheel drive remains standard.
