The 2015 Suzuki Grand Vitara 4Sport has been launched in Brazil as a special edition model that, supposedly, prioritises off-road performance over on-road plus points. Fans of the Vitara nameplate will have spotted this model from a mile away as the Grand Vitara 4Sport was first presented to the public in concept form at the 2014 Sao Paulo Motor Show.

On the outside, the production model pretty much carries over all of the aesthetic add-ons first paraded on the show car with the exception of the extended intake snorkel - a feature that would've undoubtedly added to its off-road centric persona. Up front, the Grand Vitara 4Sport is equipped with a matte black grille and front (plastic) bumper. The treatment is echoed on the side sills as well as the rear bumper.

Elsewhere, the side mirror caps are painted black while '4Sport' insignias are to be found just aft of the front wheel arches. Also, 17-inch dark grey alloy wheels are now wrapped in 245/65 tyres while the overall ride height, courtesy of an upgraded suspension system, has been increased by 65 mm for improved off-road performance. Exterior colour schemes are comprised of just two choices - white and silver.

Aside from the suspension, no mechanical changes were mentioned. As such, the Grand Vitara 4Sport gets motivated by a 2.0 litre petrol engine with 140 hp at 6,500 rpm and 186 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Transmission options include a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic with drive (obviously) going to all four corners. Inside, contrasting graphite stitching on the leather-wrapped steering wheel is the only change touted.

The 2015 Suzuki Grand Vitara 4Sport soldiers on with the same list equipment which includes a 2-DIN head unit with steering wheel-mounted controls, automatic air-conditioning system, keyless entry, ABS with EBD and dual airbags. With a manual gearbox, the Grand Vitara 4Sport is priced at R$95,990 (RM108,976) while the auto is priced at R$104,990 (RM119,194).

From the looks of it, Suzuki is quite keen to have the current-gen Grand Vitara go out with a bang as reports earlier last year indicate the impending demise of said model - an all-new Vitara and SX4 will take its place. Also, the Suzuki Alto will go the way of the dodo with the Suzuki Celerio set to replace it.
