Cruze teaser 2

It looks like the facelifted Chevrolet Cruze is coming to the ASEAN region soon – the updated J300 will be making its debut at the 2015 Bangkok International Grand (BIG) Motor Sales event from August 1 to 9.

The sole tail light teaser photo released confirms that ASEAN-spec models will gain the South Korean facelift introduced in May, rather than the North American (and Australian, by way of Holden) version which retains the original rear end.

As such, our Cruze will receive revisions which include new tail lights with Camaro-esque internal graphics, a cleaner bootlid design and a reprofiled rear bumper incorporating the rear number plate recess. This is in addition to the updated front fascia already seen in the US, with a new dual-port grille, a broader lower air intake and reshaped fog light surrounds with chrome highlights and LED daytime running lights.

It's a headache keeping track of the myriad of different facelifted Cruze variants available, let alone the two all-new versions (Chinese and North American) already revealed. Some parts of the world (like South Korea) get an updated centre console and revamped MyLink touchscreen infotainment system, while others like South Africa retain the current interior.

However, Chevrolet Sales Thailand has said that the upcoming car will come with a new interior and new in-car infotainment technology, so odds are the ASEAN region will receive the changes found on the facelifted South Korean Cruze. Expect the 140 hp/176 Nm 1.8 litre ECOTEC naturally-aspirated petrol mill and six-speed automatic transmission to soldier on, at least in our market.
