The BMW M2 is going to be a real joy to drive. According to a leaked options sheet on bimmerpost forum, the 2016 M2 Coupe will be available with a standard six-speed manual gearbox and an optional seven-speed DCT transmission. The two images we have of it here in red are of course renderings by none other than rendering wiz Theophilus Chin.

Customers in Europe will have body paint choices limited to four options, that being Black Sapphire, Alpine White, Long Beach Blue and Mineral Grey. The car will have only black 19-inch alloy rims, and feature Navigation Pro as standard, with carbon fibre inserts, rear parking sensors and shadow line in black.

If you're willing to fork out more for options, there are creatures of comfort such as power heated front seats (perhaps we'll get air-conditioned ones here?), a rear-view camera, Harman Kardon sound system, adaptive headlights and Internet access. Tinted rear windows and an extended five-year warranty is also on offer.

According to the 2Addicts.com forum, it's speculated that the 2016 M2 will have a version of the N55 twin-turbocharged 3.0 litre inline-six pushing out 370 hp and 465 Nm of torque on tap, with 500 Nm available on overboost. It has only got 50 hp more than a M235i, but one should think this would be more than enough for a really exhilarating drive.
