Our European carparazzi have managed to capture a prototype of the upcoming Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV Roadster wearing little to no camouflage as it undergoes, what we believe to be, the final phases of testing prior to hitting the show stand in September at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. In fact, forget we even used the term 'prototype' as we are confident that the car you see here is, indeed, the finished article.
Should that be the case, an early online reveal seems completely plausible - middle to the end of August, perhaps? Not that there was much to hide in the first place as the Aventador LP750-4 SV Roadster will definitely show up with the same extroverted aesthetics as its coupe sibling. Obvious differences will include the adoption of a removable hardtop plus an even more limited production run of just 500 units.
Another particular detail to note is the lack of a rear spoiler, a physical cue adopted by the coupe variant and earlier renderings of the roadster - we'll have to wait for the reveal to find out for sure. Elsewhere, the detachable roof, which is fashioned out of carbon-fibre, is reported to weigh roughly 6 kg with overall weight expected to increase by only 50 kg.
Trivial, really. Especially when one considers that under the stylised bonnet lies a naturally-aspirated 6.5 litre V12 engine pumping out a total of 750 PS at 8,400 rpm and 690 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. Power will be diverted to all four corners via Lamborghini's proprietary seven-speed ISR automated manual transmission.
Straight line acceleration should more or less mirror its coupe sibling as well with the century sprint done and dusted in 2.8 seconds. Top speed is expected to be in excess of 350 km/h. When it goes on sale, expect the roadster to carry a premium over the fixed-roof variant, which retailed at around RM3.5 million with taxes - yes, five units of the Aventador LP750-4 SV were allocated for Malaysian customers.
