Suzuki has introduced a new double-clutch transmission on the UK-spec Suzuki S-Cross, dubbed the Twin Clutch System by Suzuki (TCCS). Said transmission - which offers drivers the option to change gears via paddle shifters - will be offered as a £1,350 (RM7,920) option on the Suzuki S-Cross 1.6 DDiS Allgrip variant.
The TCSS transmission, comprised of hydraulically-operated clutches, is said to offer the convenience of automatic gearbox. Said system utilises one clutch for the first, third and fifth gears while the second is responsible for the even-numbered gears. The six-speed double-clutch transmission gets paired to a 1.6 litre Euro 6-compliant DDiS four-cylinder diesel engine.
Said mill produces a total of 120 PS at 3,750 rpm while torque output is rated at 320 Nm from 1,750 rpm. Compared to the variant equipped with the six-speed manual, the TCCS-endowed S-Cross achieves a fuel consumption rating of 26.7 km/l on the combined cycle while CO2 emissions stand at 118 g/km.
Separately, Suzuki UK has also announced the availability of a new six-speed automatic transmission on the Vitara. A £1,350 (RM7,920) option, the new automatic transmission boasts wider ratios to allow the engine to run at lower speeds when cruising. Drivers can also opt to select the gears manually via the shift paddles.
When paired to an Allgrip-equipped model, fuel consumption is rated at 21 km/l on the combined cycle while CO2 emissions are quoted at 131 g/km - a mere 1 g/km penalty over a 4WD variant with a six-speed manual transmission. A two-wheel drive variant with the automatic emits just 127 g of CO2 for every kilometre.
